Our Motivation

Launching our journey into efficient load curtailment

Our Story
Augos took on the challenge for a plastics extrusion industry client, Myplas. Their operations were severely disrupted by load shedding, with 2-hour power outages leading to 4-5 hours of lost production. Understanding their unique situation, particularly their inability to meet the 3MW threshold for standard programs, we crafted an innovative solution. Our strategy involved developing an aggregated model that enabled neighbouring Large Power Users (LPUs) on the same feeder  to collectively qualify for Load Curtailment.

In 2018, the City of Cape Town acknowledged our pioneering efforts, permitting Myplas to test our software in a pilot aggregated load curtailment program. This step not only highlighted our dedication to providing customised, impactful solutions for our clients but also represented a significant stride in our journey of innovation and empowerment.

Keeping pace with the changing standards

Our AUGOS Load Curtailment Software has since been continually refined, keeping pace with the changing standards of NRS 048-9:2019 and the upcoming NRS 048-9:2023 (Draft release). This progress highlights our commitment to a forward-thinking approach and to delivering adaptable, future-ready solutions.

Virtual Load Curtailment: Compliance and Efficiency with NRS 048-9 Standards

In our approach to virtual load curtailment, we focus on the strategic offsetting of energy loads across different sites and the integration of dispatchable power sources.

Our advanced software systems manage this balance, ensuring compliance with the NRS 048-9 code. This involves sophisticated coordination between sites to reduce load in one area while compensating or utilising dispatchable power in another, thereby maintaining grid stability and promoting sustainable energy management.

Our solutions offer flexible integration with various energy sources, including renewables, aligning with the environmental goals and compliance requirements of NRS 048-9.
